The Wouxun KG-UV980P is a mobile transceiver for radio amateurs with four-band transmission and seven-band reception. This powerful transmitter offers up to a maximum of 50 watts in 2 meters (VHF), 40 watts in 70 cm (UHF), 20 and 10/5 watts in 10 and 6 meters, for maximum range and power when using each band.
The Wouxun KG-UV980P offers us 999 memory channels programmable with CTCSS and DSC encoding/decoding, DTMF encoding/decoding, priority channel scanning and simultaneous dual-band reception. You can select a wide or narrow bandwidth (25 KHz/12.5 KHz) with the push of a button and select your output power level between high, medium or low for optimal transmission.
But not everything is power. With the Wouxun KG-UV980P that’s just the beginning. Its true strength is its versatility. The KG-UV980P from Wouxun is not simply a two-way radio, it can also function as a repeater full duplex crossband mobile. Choose from five repeater configurations: normal radio mode, directional cross-band repeater mode, two-way cross-band repeater mode, repeater receive (receiver) mode, or two-way cross-band relay mode (used to combine two transceivers into one repeater).
The KG-UV980P has two built-in speakers on the top of the chassis with multiple speaker channel configurations, with a total power of 3W and 1W in the DTMF handheld microphone, for a total of three speakers included!
In addition, the KG-UV980P has all the standard features of a Wouxun base/mobile station, such as built-in 87.5-108 MHz FM radio, burst tone 1750 Hz, channel name editing and display, group calls, 8-group scrambler, low voltage voice prompt and shutdown function, voice settings reduced noise, remote control settings and a built-in cooling fan. All of them are included as standard in this model.
But this is not all, it includes a large dual frequency LCD screen that inherits from the popular KG-UV920P. Backlit buttons on the front panel help you see them in the dark. The portable speaker’s full-featured microphone keyboard is also backlit and voice prompts help you with menu navigation.
